| Restorative Services: Bringing a Framework for Improved School Culture to Public Schools | |

The Restorative Services program is bringing restorative practices to schools, in response to a growing need on the part of public schools to deal with at-risk students onsite instead of sending them away to alternative programs. The program was developed by Community Service Foundation and Buxmont Academy (CSF Buxmont) — which operate day-treatment schools, foster homes and supervision programs for at-risk youth in eastern Pennsylvania, USA, and are model programs of the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP) Graduate School. | Huikahi Restorative Circles | |

The Huikahi Restorative Circle is a group reentry planning process involving the incarcerated individual, his or her family and friends and at least one prison representative. This article in the June 2010 issue of Federal Probation provides a history and philosophy of this restorative practice, as well as outcome data regarding those who have participated in the process, which show extremely high participant satisfaction rates as well as significantly less recidivism than current state of Hawai'i and national rates. |
